Independence Hall: The signing of the Declaration of Independence and the drafting of the Articles of the Confederation and the U.S. Constitution. While the White House was being built in Washington D.C., this is where George Washington served his presidency during the times of the Revolutionary War. Here, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin debated issues of liberty-- we could feel the energy.
Independence Hall & the original home of the Liberty Bell.
Independence Hall now surrounded by towering buildings. There is currently an archeological dig site where George Washington's house stood. Soon, they will unveil the site as a memorial and for public viewing.
The very wood stairs on which these great men walked!
Ben Franklin walked through this arch each day.
A replica of Ben Franklin's printing press.
Note: There is an awesome indoor market near the Masonic Temple with the most delicious ice cream made by Bassett's! We enjoyed the character of Philadelphia, but it had extremely narrow streets tucked between tall buildings.
Assembly Hall: Signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Originally the BritishCourt: Seats for three judges.
Activities:
Campground Timberlane (cranky people!)
Jim's Steakhouse for a true Philly sub (yummy!)
Walking the streets of Historic Philly: The largest city at the time of the Revolutionary War...many old buildings remain (and the narrow streets!)
