Day 96-98
Welcome to
Saguaro cactus stand tall and lonely scattered across the dry unprotected desert.  If you stare at them long enough, you'll begin seeing people in their forms.
Below:  The Kartchner Caves are intimate with small rooms and twisting narrow passageways.  Don't be put off by the sour smell -- it's just bat guano -- the caves are a nice way to get out of the desert heat!
Clothing and other artifacts were found in these caves dating back to the late 1800's.
Throughout our trip around the U.S., .we found a deep appreciation for the CCC and their hard work during the 1930's depression.  The longlasting benefits of this program can be seen all over the United States in beautiful rockwork on trails, in caves, in National Parks, on the Shennendoah Parkway.  With our current state of affairs (recession), maybe Obama will bring this avenue of rebuilding and enhancing our parks and highways?
